PETER YEUNG

Therapy takes a lot of courage. It is my goal to create a safe enough, warm space that we can dive into the depth of your story and help you understand more deeply how you relate to yourself and others.  I specialize in sitting with adults, couples, and teens. I’m particularly focused on helping people who find themselves struggling to make connections, have low self-esteem, working through their identity, wanting to connect more with their partner, life transitions, depression, and anxiety.
My role is not to be an expert in the relationship but an understanding companion. Over time, this relationship becomes a window into deeper aspects of who you are and how you’ve come to be. I work with clients of all ages/identities, but particularly love supporting people of the Global Majority. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, existential, attachment-based, emotional focused therapy, and person-centered theories. All of those help me listen to you better.
As a person, I’m oriented by my passion for play. I reside and work on Duwamish land and identify as cisgender, neurotypical, able-bodied, and Chinese-American. Therapy isn’t easy. It requires courage to face discomfort, uncertainty, and change. But it’s also a powerful and meaningful process. If you’re ready to do this work, I would be honored to meet you where you are and support you on your journey.
