I understand that choosing a counselor may feel somewhat overwhelming. I hope the process will also stir feelings of excitement, hope, and a sense of new beginnings. My approach tocounseling is collaborative. You and I will work together to identify the changes that you desire and how best to achieve them with my support. When we meet for counseling, we will examineyour strengths as well as behaviors that might be getting in the way of your progress. We willwork together to develop strategies to empower you to reach your goals.
I have an MEd degree in Counseling and a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and am a LicensedIndependent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). My experience of over a decade as a clinicianincludes working with adolescents and adultson a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression,navigating life’s challenges and those unexpected bumps in the road. My therapeuticorientation is based on humanistic principles which emphasize the valuing of the whole person.In addition, I seek to understand each person within the context of the individual’s unique lifecircumstances. The therapeutic, client-centered relationship is the basis for effectivecounseling. Within a client-centered environment, I utilize modalities such as CognitiveBehavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), andDialecticalBehavioral Therapy (DBT).
