I hold a B.A. in Social Sciences from Washington State University, majoring in Human Development, minoring in Sociology; giving me well rounded knowledge in birth to end of life, as well as, individual to
group societal developments. I have a Master’s of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lamar University.
I approach therapy with a holistic, eclectic view, and feel that the process is most effective when the client participates in their therapy. It is my job to provide a safe environment and build a trusting relationship for my client so they are able to focus on their goals and treatment plan. This collaborative, therapeutic relationship encourages wellbeing, personal development, and vulnerability. I feel treatment is best utilized with approaches that are based on effective research studies and have high evidence-based techniques, which is what I use in therapy. Together we can work towards a brighter tomorrow and future.
Prior to and during my educational career, I served as a Washington State Certified Peer Counselor working with individuals with mental health and homelessness, as well as, working with people who have developmental disabilities for almost two decades. My specialties are childhood trauma, LGTBQ+ populations (which I am also a member of), and aging and disabled populations. My approaches are based in CBT and DBT theories. Social services is a passion of mine, and I look forward to working with you.
